Freedom of speech in an academic environment??

Interested in humanistic psychology, 'experiential' learning and the renewal of democracy i would be very interested in how students, lecturers and activists view the arena of higher education as a place to challenge the assumption that those without education are politically ineffective, politically unaware or oppressed? Highly suspicious of the concept of experiential learning and the philosophy of Freire i would like to propose that its mostly men who 'feel' that this is the best way to 'empower' people because it is a convenient and easy way to 'educate' people. Controversial but a necessary conversation.
