The Art of Helping Others

Postby Michelangelo H. Siscar on Sun Mar 23, 2008 7:47 am

Helping others is the highest actualization, realization and fulfillment of our existence on this planet Earth. It is the tenet of the Christian Religion. It is the highest aspiration of a generous and kind soul. It brings about justice, humility, thoughtfulness and sympathy to a fellow human being. Yet its return is more than a million and one fold. It cannot be measured by gold and wealth. It cannot be paid by a million thanks and kisses. It can only be paid in return with the same service to others, that is, helping others. Helping others is not also the same as telling the whole world about. It is simply the voice of contentment, love, and satisfaction that we feel inside us that makes us extremely peaceful and happy. It is by giving what we have that we are able to help others. We do not wait or ask anything in return. It is free. What we get actually in return is something that cannot be measured, grasp, hold, or thrown away. It is HAPPINESS.

While helping others is an aspect of Christianity it is also something which all human beings are capable of in the right circumstances - it does not only belong to Christians. I believe alruism is not entirely altruistic. I beleive people do things altruistically for their own self so it is never entirely altruistic - so in essence can we ever say we are really altruistic?
